The Nature Restorers: Discover the Cove

‘The Nature Restorers’ series spotlights uplifting stories of grassroots nature restoration in Devon, showing the power of channelling funds to the local projects who are best-placed to restore nature in the places they love.

Discover the Cove is an exciting project designed to connect a local school and its community with nearby wild spaces – raising awareness of the importance of local coastal habitats and wildlife species.

They have introduced the children to their local coastal wildlife and habitats through a series of presentations, workshops, and field trips to Churston Cove, and by sharing underwater footage of the wonders that lie hidden just a few metres off the local coastline – igniting a love of nature among the children, and developing a replicable model that other schools can adopt.

Devon Environment Foundation specialises in identifying beacon projects that are making a tangible difference for nature on the ground, helping them to scale up and showcase best practice to amplify their impact.
