Winslade Event : Uplifting Stories of Grassroots Nature Restoration
On 2nd May, we had the pleasure of organising an event at the beautiful Winslade Manor, on the theme of ‘uplifting stories of grassroots nature restoration in Devon’.
We all met in the Forge, where we were greeted with a welcome drink & canapés whilst networking and getting to know people from different organisations and backgrounds.
Our Panel
We had the pleasure of hearing from some of our wonderful grantees.
– Shelley Castle, Flete Field Lab – an experimental project trialling the use of mycelium and biochar to sequester carbon, enhance soil quality, and clean up river pollution, identifying replicable low-cost, low-tech nature-based solutions that empower landowners and communities.
– Rachel Phillips, Apricot Centre – a School of Regenerative Land-Based Studies offering practical training that fills a skills gap and grows the next generation of regenerative farmers who restore soil health, sequester carbon, and mitigate the effects of climate change.
– Helen Aldis, Moor Trees – an exemplary community tree nursery that is increasing the number of high quality, local provenance saplings to meet the demand for reforesting areas of Dartmoor & South Devon, and restore the globally important Atlantic Rainforest.
Thank you to everyone who came, listened, joined in with discussions and supported this event! A special thanks to Olympus Power and the Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this event, and to Salcombe Brewery, for providing drinks.
