Did you know that the Devon Environment Foundation is a 1% for the Planet non-profit partner?
In case you haven’t heard of them, 1% for the Planet is a global organisation that enables businesses and individuals to give 1% of their income to carefully vetted environmental causes – creating thriving partnerships that deliver longer-term support and greater impact for everyone involved.
Whether personally, or on behalf of your business, joining 1% for the Planet and choosing DEF as your non-profit partner is a simple way you to give back to nature in Devon.
Nature-based solutions tackle both the climate and nature emergencies, and provide positivity and hope in these challenging times.
DEF channels funds to support the most innovative, impactful grassroots nature-based solutions in Devon – providing projects with vital kick-start or scale-up support to accelerate and amplify their impact.
Here are some examples of projects we have kick-started that likely wouldn’t have happened without DEF’s support:
- Regenerative Agriculture – a new School of Regenerative Land-based Studies which will train 22 apprentices per year initially, filling a vital skills gap to grow the next generation of regenerative farmers.
- Mycelium and Biochar – an experimental trial of mycelium and biochar recipes to sequester carbon, enhance soil quality, and clean up water pollution using mycofiltration, aiming to identify low tech solutions that can be shared freely, and replicated widely.
- Seaweed Farming – a pioneering pilot to prove the economic, social and environmental benefits of seaweed farming in the region, seeking to gain further licenses for expansion into other areas, to maximise the blue carbon and marine biodiversity opportunities.
“Without DEF’s support, encouragement, guidance, and funding we would never have been able to dream big and develop a future beacon training centre. Their funding enabled us to help grow the future of regenerative farming, forestry and food production in Devon and beyond.”
– Rachel Phillips, The Apricot Centre’s Regenerative School
Our priority is to increase the amount of funding available for grassroots environmental initiatives in Devon. Therefore, we are actively looking for individual donors or business partners interested in supporting us so we can enable even more good things to happen for nature in Devon.
We are very grateful to all our supporters who make it possible for us to fund so many brilliant projects delivering nature-based solutions in Devon.
Thank you for your invaluable support!
