Devon Meadows

£5,000 awarded

A community meadow restoration scheme that aspires to build on its Dartmoor success to share best practice and inspire more people to connect with nature and restore meadows in other parts of Devon.

Meadow restoration is a key strategy for increasing insect numbers, which is vital to biodiversity. The nationwide loss of meadows in the landscape is a contributing factor to the loss of insect life.

Moor Meadows has created a successful volunteer-led model on Dartmoor to inspire landowners to restore and create meadows, and share expertise.

They would like to take this into other parts of Devon with the part-time short-term employment of a project officer to support the creation of new community meadow groups, an online meadows forum, webinar events and training sessions, PDF templates and toolkits, PR, social media & marketing.
