Depeche Mode X Till the Coast is Clear Video
Till the Coast is Clear is a CIC that is striving to make the world a better place by recovering plastic pollution from hard-to-reach locations on the South Devon coast, using recyclable motor vessels and a fleet of kayaks made from recycled fishing nets, crewed by volunteers. This project was generously enabled by Depeche Mode and Hublot’s Memento Mori Tour charity partnership with the Conservation Collective to tackle plastic pollution.
According to the UN Environment Programme, every minute, the equivalent of one garbage truck of plastic is dumped into our ocean. Approximately 7 billion of the 9.2 billion tonnes of plastic produced from 1950-2017 became plastic waste, ending up in landfills or dumped elsewhere.
Plastic pollution can alter habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems’ ability to adapt to climate change, directly affecting millions of people’s livelihoods, food production capabilities and social well-being.
The funding the Depeche Mode, Hublot, and Conservation Collective partnership has enabled DEF to channel £72,000 over 2 years (from June 2022-July 2024) to Till the Coast is Clear.
So far, this funding has enabled TTCIC to buy four new sea kayaks made from recycled plastic fishing nets, establish additional waste collection points at remote coastal locations, and distribute beach cleaning kits to local schools.
