Urgent Fundraising: Salmon on the Exe

UPDATE: We’re delighted to share that this project has been successfully funded! Thank you so much to all those who supported! 🐟💙

Can you help Atlantic salmon on the River Exe?

We’re urgently looking for funds to support the vital Strategic Exe Weirs Salmon Run project to take place in Autumn 2024. We need to raise £7,500 by 26th July 2024 in order for this project to take place.

Enabling Westcountry Rivers Trust and Tidelines to enhance the River Exe for salmon passage while engaging the local community with issues faced by our local salmon.

Atlantic salmon populations have declined by 70% nationally in the past 25 years. This project will improve fish passage connectivity and restore life-stage habitat to maximise opportunities for natural recovery.

It will also deliver the popular Salmon Run event in September to connect local people with the restoration work, while incorporating education, health, and wellbeing.

DEF’s Advisory Board of leading local nature experts has recommended we support this impactful project, however we don’t currently have sufficient funds available.
